Prior to the game, we were treated to a catered lunch hosted by each school, and free salted pretzels. Also, each school offers free buttons, mini footballs, pom-poms, and cow bells to their supporters. The football game is really part of the annual PC - GA Day: there are girls and boys competitions in water polo, field hockey, golf, soccer, cross country, and tennis. So, it is best to come early and enjoy the competition. This year's competitions took place at Germantown Academy, and the location, atmosphere, and fans were great. Even as outsiders, we were treated as part of the family.
Post-game festivities were held at MaGerk's on Bethlehem Pike. The place was packed, but we found two unoccupied tables...right where the food was delivered. And it was good!! Free breaded chicken slices, pigs in a blanket, and roast beef tacos. To be washed down with a couple of cold ones...excellent!! As usual, we met some people, and made some new friends; I even taught two boys to say, "Down goes Frazier", whenever someone takes a spill.
The game is a wonderful experience for those of you having children or grandchildren. I brought my granddaughters two years ago, and they still talk about the great time they had. But all is not lost - next years game, the 133rd, will be held at Penn Charter. We hope to see you there.
