The charming medieval village of Bormio is nestled in a section of the Alps known as The Alta Valtellina. The World Alpine Ski Championships were held here in 1985 and 2005, and every DecemberBormio hosts World Cup racers on their trails.
Because Bormio is a single mountain with only 15 lifts and a longest trail only 6.4 km. (4 miles), this trip includes a private bus that will take us to the additional resorts of Livigno*(31 lifts and 115 km (72miles) of trails), Santa Catarina (9 lifts and 35 km. (22 miles) of trails), Cima-Piazza-San Colombano (9 lift and 30 km. (19 miles), and St. Moritz, Switzerland (23 lifts and 155 km (96 miles) of trails. *FYI – Livigno is where the famous BOMBARDINO was invented and is also a DUTY-FREE shopping mecca. One afternoon after skiing, our bus will also take the group up to the famous Bagni Romani (Roman Baths) to enjoy an amazing spa experience in incredible and beautiful pools dating back to the Romans!
The family owned, operated, and newly renovated Hotel Baita dei Pini**** is just a short walk from the historic center and base lifts, and it has a superb view of the valley which opens to the south. The comfortable rooms are equipped with every modern comfort: full bath, mini-fridge, TV, Wi-Fi and balcony. There is a new fitness center with Turkish bath, sauna, Jacuzzi and solarium, and a well-equipped gym.. The lounge and piano bar are warm and cozy with a fireplace providing an ideal alpine atmosphere.
After a memorable week in the mountains, we will travel to one of the most famous cities in the world – The Eternal City - ROME!! We will spend THREE nights at 4**** Hotel Pace - Helvezia. Our hotel is a short walk from the Forum, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Tiber River, and Vatican City.
